Istanbul, April 3 (DHA) - Consumer prices rose by 1.19 percent in March, higher than the expectations of the economists at banks and brokerage companies, at around 0.87 - 0.89 percent, according to the data released on Tuesday.

The consumer prices rose by 3.03 percent in three-month period since the begining of the year and 7.61 percent on annual basis, according to the Turkstat data, while the twelve months moving averages basis by 8.70 percent in March.

Prices rose by 1.42 percent at hotels, cafes and restaurants, 1.22 percent at recreation and culture, 1.06 percent at clothing and footwear and 0.99 percent at health expenditures.

The highest monthly decrease was by 0.03 percent in communications, followed by 0.01 percent fall in alcoholic beverages and tobacco.

The highest annual increase was 14.12 percent in food and non-alcoholic beverages, followed by hotels, cafes and restaurants with 12.76 percent, miscellaneous goods and services with 8.44 percent, health expenditures with 8.43 percent, housing with 8.03 percent.

In March, within average prices of 426 items in the index, average prices of 48 items remained unchanged while average prices of 284 items rose and average prices of 94 items fell.

Domestic producer price index rose by 1.05 percent

Domestic producer price index with D-PPI rose by 1.05 percent on monthly basis, by 2.60 percent in the firs quarter and by 3.41 percent on annual basis, while rose by 8.03 percent on the twelve months moving averages basis in March.

D-PPI monthly increased by 4.68 percent in the index for mining and stone quarrying, increased by 0.98 percent in the index for manufacturing, increased by 0.51 percent in the index for electricity and gas and increased by 0.53 percent for water supply.

The highest rates of monthly increase in D-PPI by sub divisions of industry were indices for crude petroleum and natural gas with 41.61 percent, for coke and refined petroleum products with 5.97 percent, for metal ores with 2.94 percent.

On the other hand the highest rates of monthly decrease in D-PPI by sub divisions of industry were indices for wearing apparel with 2.44 percent, for beverages with 0.49 percent and for coal and lignite with 0.17 percent.

According to main industrial groupings classification in March 2015, the highest rates of monthly increase were in energy goods and the highest rates of annual increase were in undurable consumer goods.
