Turkey's May Inflation In Line With The Expectations At 0.56 Pct.

- Turkey's consumer prices rose by 0.56 percent in May, in line with the expectations at around 0.60-0.65 percent, while

Consumer price index (CPI) rose by 5.30 percent in the first five months of the year, lifting the annual inflation again over 8.0 percent to 8.09 percent while annual inflation on twelve months moving averages basis rose to 8.45 percent, over the same period.

The highest monthly increase was in clothing and footwear at 10.06 percent, followed by transportation with 1.76 percent, hotels, cafes and restaurants with 1.20 percent, recreation and culture with 1.08 percent and furnishings and household equipment with 0.82 percent.

On the other hand, the highest monthly decrease was in food and non-alcoholic beverages prices at 2.68 percent followed by communications at 0.16 percent.

The highest annual consumer prices increase was in hotels, cafes and restaurants at 13.44 percent, followed by food and non-alcoholic beverages with 12.81 percent, miscellaneous goods and services with 9.79 percent, recreation and culture with 8.70 percent, housing with 8.32 percent.

In May, within average prices of 426 items in the index, average prices of 67 items remained unchanged while average prices of 269 items increased and average prices of 90 items decreased.

Domestic producer prices accelerating

Domestic producer price index (D-PPI) rose by 5.22 percent in the first five months of the year, while annual increase rose to 6.52 percent and increased by 6.98 percent on the twelve months moving averages basis in May.

D-PPI monthly increased by 0.86 percent in the index for mining and stone quarrying, increased by 1.53 percent in the index for manufacturing, decreased by 2.73 percent in the index for electricity and gas and increased by 1.06 percent for water supply

The highest rates of monthly increase in D-PPI by sub divisions of industry were indices for crude petroleum and natural gas products by 10.75 percent, followed by coke and refined petroleum products with 8.39 percent, computer, electronic and optical products with 2.63 percent.

On the other hand the highest rates of monthly decrease in D-PPI by sub divisions of industry were indices for electricity, gas by 2.73 percent and for other mining and quarrying products by 1.29 percent.
