Istanbul, March 20 (DHA) - Turkey's Privatisation Board annoaced approves the zoning plan of a marina in Istanbul, just hours after conglomarate Koç had announced withdraws from signing the agreement for transfer of operation right of the property, for the same reason.
Turkey's Privatization High Council numbered decided last year that the operating rights of the Fenerbahçe Kalamış Marina as a whole has been granted to Koç Holding's subsidiary Tek Art Kalamış ve Fenerbahçe Marmara Turizm Tesisleri A.Ş (Tek Art Kalamış) for a period of 30 years.
Koç Holding said, "Due to the fact that the stay of execution ruling regarding the zoning plan is pending, in accordance with Article 19 of the tender document titled zoning plan, Tek Art s decision to withdraw from signing the agreement for transfer of operating rights has been notified to Privatization Administration" in its disclosure to Public Disclosure Platform, late last night.
Just hours after this announcement came from Koç Holding, a statement from the Prime Ministry Privatization Administration, published on the Official Gazette, saying that it had approved the "zoning plan" of the Fenerbahçe Kalamış Marina.
"The zoning plan of the Fenerbahçe Kalamış Marina, a property of Turkey Maritime, containing the areas fully owned by the state is approved" the Prime Ministry Privatization Administration.
Tek Art Kalamış has been running the Fenerbahçe Kalamış Marina since 1999 as the operator.
Privatization High Council had decided in 2014 to transfer the operation rights of the Fenerbahçe Kalamış Marina to Tek-Art for 664 million dollars for 30 years, stating that if the company had failed to sign the agreement, the right would be transferred to Safi Gayrimenkul for 654 million dollars, as the second highest bidder.
