– The Justice and Development Party (AKP) and the Republican Peoples’ Party (CHP) announced their decision to pursue coalition talks every other day.
Within the coalition talks, the two parties’ delegations have gathered at Ankara Palace State Guesthouse. After the talks having lasted for eight hours, representatives of the parties’, CHP Vice Chairman Haluk Koç and AKP’s Minister of Culture and Tourism Ömer Çelik made important statements, on July 28.
“The matters treated today - fundamental freedoms, the constitution and issues in frame of the order of law – were transparently brought to the table. The law of election and its subheadings were discussed. Both of the sides presented their viewpoints. There exist certain subjects that the sides have not come to an agreement. We will continue our talks. Three further meetings are ahead of us.”
On Thursday the next meeting will be held at the same day and time, and talks would resume on where the both sides have left off, as Koç announced.
AKP’s Ömer Çelik has also underlined that the main title of the talk was the type of constitution to be modelled, the constitution to be renewed, democratization and freedoms, including separation of powers.
“What is our take on the judicial reform, how do we conceptualize the state of law, what are the points of conflict and conciliation, what are the common points, we have discussed these issues” added Çelik.
