- Four police officers were killed in an outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) attack in the southeastern province of Mardin on Sept. 3.
PKK militants set an under-construction school alight and detonated an explosive planted on the road in the Dargeçit district of Mardin, targeting an armored police vehicle that accompanied the fire brigades responding to the fire. One chief police officer and three police officers were killed in the explosion.
