- In Aegean province of İzmir, migrants having fled the civil war in Syria have boosted the business of shopkeepers in the town.

While waiting on the streets of Basmane district to cross into Greek islands, migrants keep flocking to shops to buy lifejackets and inner tubes.

Many shops, even the ones who don’t sell these products, have filled and organized their display windows in a way to attract these migrants.

Locals reports say that some of these migrants could even be noticed while trying on these lifejackets in the sea, to check if they are good quality and whether they sink in the water or not. “We can only earn our bread by selling lifejackets” told some of the shopkeepers.
