Turkey's Consumer Inflation At 0.71 Percent In February (2)

Istanbul, March 3 (DHA) - Consumer prices rose by 0.71 percent in February, in line with the expectations of the economists at banks and brokerage companies, at around 0.71 - 0.75 percent, according to the data released on Tuesday.

The consumer prices rose by 1.82 percent in two-month period since the begining of the year and 7.55 percent on annual basis, according to the Turkstat data, while the twelve months moving averages basis by 8.77 percent in February.

Domestic producer prices rose by 1.20 percent on monthly basis, increased by 1.53 percent on two-month period. Domestic producer prices rose by 3.10 percent on annual basis, and increased by 8.79 percent on the twelve months moving averages basis in Februray.

The highest monthly increase was at 2.59 percent in food and non-alcoholic beverages in February, while prices rose by 1.77 percent at transportation, by 1.06 percent at hotels, cafes and restaurants, 0.94 percent at communications and 0.82 percent at health expenditures.

On the other hand, the highest monthly decrease was by 6.58 percent in clothing and footwear, while prices fell by 0.44 percent at alcoholic beverages and tobacco and 0.08 percent at education.

The highest annual increase was 13.70 percent in food and non-alcoholic beverages, followed by hotels, cafes and restaurants with 12.66 percent, miscellaneous goods and services with 9.18 percent, health with 8.29 percent, education with 7.96 percent.

In February 2015 within average prices of 426 items in the index, average prices of 44 items remained unchanged while average prices of 267 items increased and average prices of 115 items decreased.
