Annual Industrial Turnover Rose By 12.8 Percent In 2014

- Turkey's calendar adjusted industrial turnover rose by 12.8 percent in 2014, against the previous year, due to high inflation, according to the data released by Turkstat on Friday.

Turkey's annual inflation rose to 8.17 percent in 2014, up from 7.40 percent in 2013, higher than Central Bank's target at 5.0 percent.

Turnover in mining and quarrying increased by 4.8 percent in 2014, as one of the main sub-sectors of the industry, while turnover in manufacturing rose by 13.1 percent oer the same period.

Calendar adjusted total industrial turnover increased by 7.6 percent at the end of December, against the same period in the previous year, as a compound of 4.6 percent fall at mining turnover and 8.0 percent rise at manufacturing industries.

Seasonally and calendar adjusted total industrial turnover rose by 2.7 percent in December, on monthly basis, while turnover at mining and quarrying fell by 3.9 percent and turnover at manufacturing rose by 3.0 percent in the same period.

According to the main industrial groupings classification, the largest turnover increase was in capital goods by 7.1 percent in December on monthly basis.

In the sub sectors of the manufacturing the largest turnover increase was in other transport equipment by 42.1 percent, followed by tobacco products by 24.1 percent and basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations by 9.9 percent in December.

On the other hand, highest turnover fall was in manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products with 15.0 percent, due to the general fall at global oil prices, followed by other manufacturing by 8.5 percent and printing and reproduction of recorded media by 7.1 percent.
